Retired professional racing champion, Ken Thwaits, had no idea that simply purchasing a Chevrolet Camaro for his son’s birthday would reignite his deeply-rooted passion for racing.

But it did and now he’s burning up the track with Showtime Motorsports.

In 1985, Thwaits won the Mazda Pro Racing championship. But he gave up the demanding professional racing lifestyle to be a committed husband and father until launching his own racing team, Showtime Motorsports, in 2013.

Thwaits owns and competes in two Chevrolet Camaro’s. One is a yellow, limited edition SS 1LE. The other is a white 2014 Z/28. Both are exceptionally customized and primed for the track.

Today, Thwaits is competing in the Ultimate Street Car Association’s,  10 nationwide track series. Thwaits and Showtime Racing earned an invitation to the 2014 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in the GT3k division during the Road America event on June 22, 2014 in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
